I have been solving problems with wood for as long as I can remember. Even before I got my head stuck in the rungs of the dining room chair, there were tinker toys. Acrophobia curtailed my attempt at treehouse construction. Later came high school shop, art school at the University of Maryland, construction and remodeling, and then, at age 24, I started my own business.
I have always been able to see it and build it in my head. Fortunately, I can also translate it to my hands.  After 35 years I still enjoy standing back and looking at whatever I have created, be it a small wooden bowl or a detailed Library covered with Mahogany from floor to ceiling.
